June 4, 2014 Christie’s  Important Jewels Auctions Results

Christie’s Important Jewels auction last June 4, 2014 held at King Street, London reached a total sale of 8,100,600 British pounds (13,743,072.93 US Dollar). The event highlighted the parade of 267 pieces of unique and beautiful jewelry collections made of precious stones, diamonds, gold and pearls. Some of the rare collections dated back to 18th, 19th and early 20th century. There were 66 pieces of rings, 60 pairs of earrings, 49 pieces of necklace and 33 pieces of brooch. This astonishing collection came from different parts of Europe, India, Asia and America. There were also rare pieces of jewelry which came from various stylistic periods such as Art deco, Edwardian and Pre-war period.

Bulgari's Diamond Bracelet

A diamond bracelet by Bulgari was sold for $645,842 which is far-fetched from its estimated price of $301,320.  This approximately 18.27 carats Fancy Brown-Yellow, central marquise-cut diamond is a sprung bangle attached to a fluted pavé-set brilliant and baguette-cut diamond surround. It came with a pierced geometric detailing, with 15.0 cm internal circumference 15.0cm and a maker’s case. Fine and rare enamel and diamond snake wrist watchThe snake wrist watch made of brilliant cut diamond and black enamel was sold at a hefty price of $1,107,038 which is more than double of its $418,500 estimated price.  The pear shaped eyes made of diamonds and expressive mouth of this coiled sprung bracelet shows the round watch dial with polished Arabic numerals signed by Jaeger-Le Coultre. The circular watch has a mechanical movement, tapered hands and baton hour markers.

Platinum singlestone diamond ring

From its estimated price of $368,280, the diamond ring was sold at $1,107,038. The ring has a 5.01 carats, pear shaped diamond with D color, no fluorescence, with IF clarity and it comes with baguette-cut diamond shoulders. The plain-hooped ring has a large finger size.

Diamond Emerald ring

Sold at $264,854, this diamond ring with 8.50 carats marquise-cut Type IIA, H Colour diamond which was carefully placed between emerald shoulders with rectangular cut exceeded it was estimated for $117,180. This 8.50ct diamond with VVS1 Clarity and no fluorescence was hoisted on a plain hoop.

Sapphire and diamond brooch

From the maximum estimated price of $133,920, this elongated 8.2 cm oval Brooch made of natural Kashmir Sapphire and brilliant-cut Diamond was sold at $304,958. The Sapphire has a central cushion shape and it has no indications of heating.   Early 20th century diamond ringThis single stone diamond ring with 6.36 carats E Colour diamond was sold at $264,854 from its maximum estimated price of $167,400. The rectangular-cut diamond has VS2 Clarity and no fluorescence.

Kern's sapphire and diamond necklace

From an estimated sales value of $30,132, this 43.7cm long box-link necklace, made of 16.22 carats natural sapphire with a rectangular cut-corner and hoisted on three stone surmount made of marquise-cut diamond was sold at $234,776. The sapphire was channel-set to the front with beautiful baguette-cut diamonds. The necklace had a hidden clasp and polished backchain.

Pink diamonds stole the limelight from all other pieces of beautiful and unique jewels spectacle at the Christie’s New York Global salesroom, June 10, for the Important Jewels Auction. The auction achieved a total sales price of $ 27,534,750!

All the 187 pieces of important jewels made of diamonds, sapphire, emerald, precious stones and many others were magnificent, but few of these jewels outshined the rest. Here are the top auction highlights:

5.50 carats fancy vivid diamond ring

The star of the night was the 5.50 carats fancy vivid pink diamond with modified oval-cut, VVs1 clarity and natural color. Its symmetry and polish were certified as excellent by the Gemological Institute of America. It was sold at a hefty price tag of $9,573,000 surpassing its estimated price of $7,500,000!

Fancy light pink diamond

Another pink diamond, a 5.91 carats fancy light pink diamond rectangular-cut diamond set in platinum and rose gold made the sale of the night!  This beautiful pink stone captivated the bidder’s heart and was ultimately bought at $1.835 million, far beyond its estimated sales price of $675 thousand.
An Emerald and Diamond pendant necklace William GoldbergSold at $485,000, a little lower than its estimated price, this exquisite 15½ inches necklace comes with 33.46 carats Emerald with a modified cushion-cut 12 Ashoka cut diamonds. The neck chain has three Ashoka-cut diamonds- 2.04 carats VVS2, J Color diamond; 2.01 carats, SI1, H color diamond; and 2.01 carats, H color, SI1 diamond or totaling 5.61 carats.
A Diamond and Emerald lingchain necklace by LevievLeviev’s stunning 43 ½ inches necklace is filled with 108 collet-set D to D color, VVS2 and internally flawless Diamonds that weigh around 1.00 to 1.16 carats per piece. The other side of each piece has diamonds pave-set. The jewelry has been enhanced with an openwork clasp made of cabochon emerald and circular-cut diamond.

Colored Diamond Necklace

Just imagine wearing a necklace studded with 81 pieces of VS1 and VS2 fancy yellow diamonds! These modified and rectangular cut diamonds weighing 0.31 to 4.45 carats each are carefully mounted in 18k gold. This superb jewelry plus the seven reports issued by GIA certifying its Vs1 to VS2 clarity along with Y to Z and fancy yellow color made it a great buy.

Yellow Diamond Ring

This 32.51 carats fancy yellow, natural, SI1 diamond with modified cut-corners set in 18k gold mounting made an unexpected sale of $605,000. Although it is only slightly above the estimated maximum price, the impressive design and topnotch quality of the stone makes it a very interesting purchase.
